Stronger cover for GMSV’s volume seller.

WARRANTY cover for Chevrolet Silverado product has been emboldened.

A five-year unlimited-kilometre warranty pairs with five years of 24/7 Ultra Roadside Assistance replaces a cover of three years and 100,000kms, with three years of roadside assistance.

It applies to Silverado 1500 LTZ / ZR2 and 2500 HD models, but only products delivered from today. Any vehicle already in circulation keeps the previous cover.

General Motors Speciality Vehicles says intent is to give customers added peace of mind whether they’re working, touring or towing.

“We know how our owners love to use their Silverado, both during the working week and on the weekends, so introducing an unlimited-kilometre warranty is something we know they will love, says GM New Zealand and Australia managing director Jess Bala, who bases in Melbourne.

“Whether they’re towing or touring, working hard or on a weekend away, the Silverado’s warranty coverage now matches their appetite for adventure, no matter where or how far they go.

“The Silverado is a vehicle with a reputation forged by strength, durability and trust, and its passionate owners know they can rely on their truck to get the job done, no matter how tough. This change cements that reputation even further.”

MY25 Silverado ranges in price from $150,500 to $180,000.

The big tray deck has consistently been Chevrolet’s strongest seller in New Zealand, but has been under pressure from RAM.

Also this year some Silverado pick-ups sold by GMSV were recalled due to manufacturing defects that could cause their 6.2-litre petrol V8 'L87' engines to fail.

Related to the crankshaft and connecting rods within the engine, the problem was specific to Silverado 1500s plated as 2021 to 2024 models.
