I’m confused and just need to get to the airport and back before 1pm….

The best way to do this if coming from SH1 southbound (from the likes of Ngauranga Gorge), avoiding all half-open streets, own way streets and congestion:

  • Stick to SH1 through Terrace Tunnel

  • Take a right onto Taranaki St

  • Follow Taranaki St all the way to Newtown (it becomes Wallace St)

  • Turn left onto John St (you’ll see the big Countdown building up ahead at the Adelaide Rd intersection)

  • Turn right onto Riddiford Street and follow that

  • Turn left onto Constable St and follow that until the small roundabout

  • Go straight through onto Crawford Rd

  • Turn right onto Childers Terrace

  • Left onto Coutts St

  • Right onto Onepu Rd

  • Follow that down to Lyall Parade and turn left onto Lyall Parade

  • Follow that all the way down the southern end of the runway and then turn left onto Stewart Duff Dr which will get you to the airport

  • There may be an easier signposted way, but just to be sure, this route works!

  • To get home, do this route vice versa
