TRUCK VS TRAIN IN WAIKANAE
At around 6.20am on Wednesday the 15th Oct, 2025, a fully-laden truck got stuck on the train tracks, resulting in a freight train collision on the level crossing at Elizabeth St in Waikanae, Kapiti Coast. Thankfully, and miraculously - the truck driver AND the train driver both escaped injury. The road past the scene was closed for several hours while emergency services and logistics teams dealt to the wreckage, and the emergency level crossing between Elizabeth St and Old SH1 Waikanae was opened for traffic flow. The train was cleared from the crossing at around 9.40am, and he truck hauled away around 12.30pm. ALL CREDIT TO THE OWNERS OF THESE PHOTOS.
